The festival of Holi, a vibrant celebration of colors and joy, holds a special place in Indian culture. Even for the Indian cricket team, the festive fervor extends beyond the field, uniting players in a spirited display of camaraderie and revelry.
Senior pros like Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have long been at the heart of Team India’s Holi celebrations, setting the tone for a lively and colorful festivity whenever the squad comes together. Here, we take a look back at the time when the legendary Indian batters similarly led the 2023 Holi celebration at a team bus alongside with the rest of their colleagues.
When Virat Kohli and co. celebrated Holi in team bus
Back in March 2023, senior Indian cricketers like Virat Kohli and captain Rohit Sharma alongside Shubman Gill, Shreyas Iyer and several other members of the team were spotted celebrating Holi inside the team bus. Gill captured the celebration and even shared an excerpt on social media.
While the Indian players seemingly had a blast celebrating Holi back in 2023, the Indian cricket team is currently disbanded to allow all the cricketers to join their respective franchises for the IPL 2025 season.
The ‘Men in Blue’, under the leadership of Rohit Sharma, recently won the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy in the UAE by defeating New Zealand in a thrilling final. Nonetheless, the IPL 2025 season is scheduled to launch from March 22 onwards at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata with a match between RCB and defending champions KKR. The season will run till May 25 before the Indian players will re-unite for a five-match Test series in England.
