In an analysis of the upcoming IPL 2023 clash between the Rajasthan Royals (RR) and the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), renowned cricket commentator Aakash Chopra has offered his valuable insights on the potential team composition for RR.
As the two teams prepare to face each other at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on Sunday, May 14, both sides are eager to secure a victory to boost their chances of making it to the playoffs.
Chopra, speaking on the popular "AakashVani" show on JioCinema, recommended that the Rajasthan Royals seriously consider including the talented spinner Adam Zampa in their lineup.
"This will be at the Sawai Mansingh - spin to win. Whoever wins the toss, will bat first. In spin, you will have Yuzvendra Chahal, Ravichandran Ashwin and probably Adam Zampa. Think about Zampa actually, Rajasthan," said Chopra.
The former cricketer further highlighted the overall balance of the Rajasthan Royals, both in their top-order batting and bowling departments, which could give them an edge in the upcoming contest.
"In batting, Yashasvi Jaiswal is doing well. Of course, Jos Buttler is playing beautifully and then you have got Sanju Samson. The top three will manage. They will manage in bowling as well. Rajasthan is looking a little more balanced and we have already seen Yashasvi's storm.
While Yashasvi Jaiswal leads the run charts for RR with an impressive tally of 575 runs, Jos Buttler and Sanju Samson have contributed significantly with 392 and 356 runs respectively.
On the bowling front, Yuzvendra Chahal has been a standout performer for the team with 21 wickets, followed by Ravichandran Ashwin with 14 wickets. Although Adam Zampa has featured in only four matches, he has already accounted for five dismissals, showcasing his potential impact on the game.
