England have a jam-packed 2023, with the upcoming Ashes and a 50-over World Cup in October. Keeping in mind the workload, several players have opted out of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL), while others are participating to gain much-needed match time.

Two of England's most crucial men, Ben Stokes and Jofra Archer, have sustained injuries and have missed matches for Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians, respectively, which is a massive concern for the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB).

Former England captain Eoin Morgan, however, has backed both Stokes and Archer to manage their bodies and prepare for the long season ahead.

As per PTI, the 2019 ICC World Cup-winning captain explained that the duo can gain confidence from performing in the IPL, which is less of a risk than County Cricket.  Morgan said that both Archer and Stokes are experienced players and they know their bodies. He also added that both teams are preparing their bodies not only for the IPL but for whole year.

Here's what Morgan said

"They are two very experienced players. They know their bodies inside out. Ben has managed his body exceptionally well through all three formats his whole career. Jofra is back and bowling well; obviously he had a little bit of setback. But these players know their bodies, they are preparing for the full year not (for) just an IPL season,"

The World Cup winning captain also reckoned that 2023 being a World Cup and Ashes year is an added responsibility. He also went onto say that both players know that they can gain confidence by performing in the IPL.

"This year being a World Cup and an Ashes year (there is) added responsibility. For those two players, you don’t have to remind them how much confidence it gives when you perform at the IPL.”

Stokes is nursing a toe injury, while Archer faced discomfort in his elbow in his maiden MI game.
