Temba Bavuma, who succeeded Dean Elgar as the Proteas Test captain, cited his professional relationship with the former skipper, stating that no awryness exists between them.

With Bavuma now in charge of South Africa's red-ball outfit, it was thought that Elgar's sacking could create a divide. However, if Bavuma is to be believed, there is nothing "amiss" in his relationship with Elgar.

"The question about my relationship with Dean, I think it’s a bit of a naughty one because there is nothing amiss and there is nothing wrong in my relationship with Dean,"

"Dean and I have always been good teammates and I have always looked up to him as a senior player. He helped me to settle within the team and I don’t see how things can change with whatever changes have been made from a leadership point of view."

Cricket South Africa (CSA) has led a massive shake-up with Conrad Shukri and Rob Walter serving as the head coaches of Test and white-ball sides respectively.

While Bavuma relinquished the T20I captaincy, he retained his post as the skipper of the ODI team with leadership in the Test format also in his hands now.

His first assignment in the role comes in the form of West Indies, who will face South Africa in a two-match Test series that starts on February 28.
