Veteran batter Babar Azam has joined his teammates, Naseem Shah, Mohammad Rizwan and Abdullah Shafique, as these players will travel to the West Indies for Pakistan's upcoming ODI series against the host nation. Recently, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced separate squads for the six-match white-ball tour, including Babar only in the ODI team.
Babar Azam Unites With Pakistani Teammates For WI Tour
Meanwhile, the stylish batter from Lahore reunited with the Pakistani contingent, which is supposed to depart for the Caribbean Islands this Thursday. As reported by GeoSuper, Babar was joined by ODI captain Mohammad Rizwan, experienced fast bowler Naseem Shah and opening batter Abdullah Shafique, all of whom haven't been included in the T20I squad led by Agha Salman.
Hailed for his scintillating stroke-play, Babar played his last international match back in April 2025, coincidentally, an ODI against New Zealand at Bay Oval, Mount Maunganui. He hasn't played a Test match since January, while featuring in a T20I for the last time in December 2024.
Talking about Rizwan and Naseem, both players have also suffered an ouster from the T20I setup due to middling returns. Rizwan was replaced by Agha Salman as Pakistan's T20I skipper, while Naseem's prolonged lean patch forced the selectors to consider alternative seam-bowling options in the shortest format.
