Australian captain Aaron Finch has now provided an injury update ahead of the crunch clash against Afghanistan in the T20 World Cup 2022.

Finch picked up a hamstring injury recently and the Australian opener has revealed that he is 70% fit for the upcoming game and he is still undecided on whether he will participate in the next game for his country.

The experienced batter believes that he will only play if he manages to recover fully and he won't handicap the side by playing with discomfort.

Australia had a poor start to the World Cup campaign but they have recovered since then. The game against Afghanistan tomorrow is a must-win clash for the hosts and they cannot afford any slip-ups.

There have been other injury concerns in the Australian squad as well. Tim David and Marcus Stoinis were struggling with knocks earlier as well.

David will be assessed closer to the game as well and the Aussies are unlikely to rush any of their players back unless they are fully fit.

As quoted by ESPN, Finch said:

"I'm maybe 70-30. But I'll test it out properly this afternoon to make sure that I'm not hindering the side at all leading into the game. That's the worst possible scenario, that you leave the guys short out there with one player fewer.

"It won't make it harder one bit. If I feel like it 1% would be compromising the side's performance I won't play. If I don't feel confident in my hamstring, then I won't play and that might be in the first effort that I do today, it might be in the last one. If I feel any pain or anything like that I won't play."

If Finch decides to skip the game because of injury issues, it would be a huge sacrifice from the captain in a crucial game. Australia cannot afford to carry any passengers in their side right now and the decision from Finch could be defining for his side.
