That's a pretty big insult: Adam Gilchrist tears apart Australian side for ignoring Ashton Agar

It hasn't been a kind tour until now for the touring Australian side who faced heavy defeats in the first two games of the series against India. Unable to play spin is one issue that has been plaguing the side as they lost wickets in clusters.

Moreover, in the last game, left-arm spinner Matthew Kuhnemann was called into the side making his debut ahead of senior pro Ashton Agar which has left the latter fuming according to certain reports.

More so because some rumours were coming in that he might be returning back home midway as he might have felt unrequired. After all this, former Australia wicket-keeper batter Adam Gilchrist referred to this as a major insult to the spinner.

He said that despite being the first reserve in the squad he was not picked which is unfair to him.

"There’s been murmurings that he [Agar] might be on a flight home because he might feel like he’s surplus to requirements over there and I can understand why, without being in the camp and knowing the finer details of why he wasn’t picked,"

"But it’s a pretty big insult that I know from touring and being on a lot of tours, you felt that if you’re picked on the tour in a broader squad - unless it’s a pretty extreme like for like that has to come in - you generally expected the guys that were first reserves to step in."

Australia will be playing the third Test against India beginning on 1st March in Indore.
