The Australian team has always been known for their grit and aggression on and off the field; however, in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) 2023, they barely showcased such attributes. First at Nagpur, then in Delhi, the batters surrendered to the Indian spinners.

Former India spinner Harbhajan Singh, who has been part of several BGT series, said that the current Australian team cannot compete with Team India.

Speaking to India Today, Singh, who rose to prominence during 2000-01 BGT, claiming 32 wickets in three Tests, added that the visitors have been more bothered about the pitches than cricket, and have failed to live up to the great Australian sides of the past.

Here's what Singh said

“I think they (Australia) did not fight and did not put up a good show. Their shot selection was very poor. They did not look like the Australian teams of the past. I understand that the conditions have changed a lot. We see that the balls is turning from ball one. But they have to fight it out, it is Test cricket."

"I don’t think this Australian team has it in them to compete with Team India. Even on a good track, I think India will beat them handsomely."

The 2011 World Cup winner stated categorically that Pat Cummins and Co. will find it tough to beat India on flat tracks as well.

The third Test will start on March 1, with hosts India taken an unassailable 2-0 lead.
