Dinesh Karthik made a remarkable comeback into the Indian T20I side after a phenomenal Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 season with Royal Challengers Bangalore. Karthik defined by Indian team management as the lone finisher in the T20 World Cup 2022 squad, has struggled so far.

In two World Cup games, the 37-year-old has managed just six runs, which includes a golden duck against Pakistan. Last night, Karthik failed to provide support to Surya Kumar Yadav, inviting criticism from all quarters.

Former India opener Virender Sehwag raised questions over Karthik's place in the playing XI over Rishabh Pant.

The Nawab of Najafgarh pointed out Karthik's inability to bat in bouncy conditions, whereas Pant has proven himself in Australia.

"This should have been the case from the first day. Rishabh Pant has played Tests and ODIs there, and has performed and he knows how to perform in these conditions. When did Dinesh Karthik last play in Australia, when has he played on such bouncy wickets? This isn't a Bengaluru wicket.

"I said this even today that Pant should've been in the team instead of Hooda, Pant has the experience of playing here. His Gabba innings is a legend."

Karthik suffered a back injury while keeping, forcing Pant to be subbed during the final overs against South Africa at Perth.

India plays Bangladesh on Wednesday at Adelaide Oval.
