England openers in action [Source: Twitter]
So far, the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup 2022 for England has been a frustrating ride. With one win, a loss against Ireland, and a wash-out against arch-rivals Australia, England's path to the semi-finals only gets more challenging.
The Jos Buttler-led side takes on Super 12 Group 1 table-toppers New Zealand on Tuesday. A win would keep their hopes alive in the global T20 tournament, but a loss would see the 50-over World Cup winners crash out.
Former England captain Nasser Hussain is hopeful that England openers Jos Buttler and Alex Hales will come out on top against the Kiwis' bowling attack, which thus far has been impeccable.
Writing for the Daily Mail, Hussain elaborated that England's top-order remains to be feared and will look to take charge given familiarity with the conditions at the Gabba.
"But now, on what should be good surfaces in Brisbane and Sydney, they should take the attacking option because, however tough it is in a must-win game, the England top seven can take the game away from any opposition. They will be feared by opponents."
England's last Super 12 match is against Sri Lanka on Saturday.
