India to play Pakistan on 12th February (PC: Twitter)
While the ongoing Women's T20 Asia Cup happening in Bangladesh, where teams are fighting for the title, ICC has announced the schedule for the much-awaited Women's T20 World Cup 2023 slated to be held in South Africa.
With Sri Lanka and South Africa set to kick off the mega-event on 10th February in Cape Town, the eight edition will witness 23 matches including the play-offs. Cape Town, Paarl and Gqeberha are set to be the three hosts that will see the tournament conclude on 26th February with 27th as the reserve day for the finals.
India set to clash with their arch-nemesis Pakistan on 12th of February in Newlands Cricket Stadium, Cape Town. Defending champions Australia will open their tournament against their Trans-Tasman rivals New Zealand on 11th February in Paarl.
Teams have been divided into two groups with India paired alongside West Indies, Pakistan, Ireland and England while all the remaining teams are put together in a group. Ireland and Bangladesh, after good performances in the Qualifier event have booked their berth for the global tournament.
The tournament will take place in the group round-robin format with top two teams from each group making it to the semi-finals.
Group 1: Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh
Group 2: England, India, West Indies, Pakistan, Ireland
