Legendary Australian batter Steve Smith is gearing up for the all-important English summer, which will see the Pat Cummins-led unit lock horns with India in the final of the World Test Championship (WTC) before taking on old foes England in the Ashes.

Australia finished as the No.1 side in the 2021-23 cycle. The former world champions lost just 1 series- 1-2 in India- out of 6, to make their debut entrance in the marquee final.

Steve Smith, who enjoyed a memorable English summer in 2019, finished as the leading run-getter in the two-year cycle, and the former skipper is now looking forward to emulating the same this summer.

Speaking to his fans via a Q&A session on his official Instagram account, Smith opened up about his preparations for what promises to be a legacy-defining summer for him and Pat Cummins" team.

"Yeah, it is good (preparations for the WTC final). I have been on a bit of a break, a bit of a pre-season here for a couple of weeks to keep things ticking over and then get back into my cricket prep pretty soon and it is obviously an exciting couple of months coming up, looking forward to it," Smith said as quoted by India Today.

Smith was also asked to pick his favourite Test win, and he was quick to point out Edgbaston 2019, where the legendary cricketer smashed a hundred in each of the two innings to help the Aussies breach the English fortress.

"For me, Edgbaston 2019 would be tough to go past as a player. As a spectator, the entire 2005 series was outstanding to watch." Smith said.

The World Test Championship final between Australia and India will take place at the Oval between June 07-12. The Ashes will commence a few days later in Birmingham.
