The 16th edition of the Indian Premier League is in full swing with plenty of thrillers along the way. The IPL caravan will be heading to Chennai now for the second game in CSK's den as Rajasthan Royals (RR) will be up against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in game 17 of the IPL 2023.

Both the teams have won two and lost one out of their three games and are gelling pretty well as a unit. CSK also becomes a different beast in their home conditions and expect a sea of yellow as their 'Thala' - MS Dhoni takes the field on Wednesday, 12th of April.

Let us now see the predicted playing XI of Rajasthan Royals that would look to spoil CSK's party at Chepauk.

Openers

Jos Buttler and Yashasvi Jaiswal

Jos Buttler and Yashasvi Jaiswal are one of the most dynamic opening pairs in IPL. Both of them have been in belligerent form this season and have smashed two fifties in three games. Their opening stand has been a big reason for RR's two wins this season and they would hope for another bright start against a dangerous CSK line-up.

Middle Order

Sanju Samson

The RR skipper has also been in great touch this season and started the season with a fifty. He has the ability to take the game on and can demolish bowling attacks if he gets going.  He has been brilliant behind the stumps and as a leader too. So, expect the RR captain to deliver again.

Riyan Parag

The Assam all-rounder has not been able to deliver on the promise consistently over the years. He has got some good starts in this season but has failed to capitalise and it is high time he gets going. RR have backed him for a long time and this might well be his last chance. If he is dropped, then we might see Devdutt Padikkal taking his place in the playing XI.

Shimron Hetmyer

The dashing left-hander played a blinder of knock in the last game against DC to take his team to a big score. Hetmyer is an experienced cricketer and has the ability to mould his game according to the game situation. He is a big asset for RR.

Dhruv Jurel

The young batter has shown his finishing abilities in the limited opportunities he has got. He smashed a brilliant 32 in just 15 balls against PBKS in a losing cause and could make a big impact in this game.

All-rounders

Jason Holder

The all-rounder has bowled well this season and provides a good balance to the RR unit with his all-round abilities. RR though have not used his batting talent so far but the big man can deliver in crunch situations and is a key player for RR.

Ravichandran Ashwin

Ashwin has emerged as a key player for RR with his batting prowess being used regularly. He has also bowled pretty well this season and has loads of experience and success in Chepauk over the years. This is his original home ground and Ashwin could well be the game-changer for RR in this game.

Bowlers

Trent Boult

The Kiwi speedster has been in tremendous form especially with the new ball and has rocked opposition teams in first over twice in three games so far. He has taken five wickets in three games and would need to play a big role against the in-form opening pair of CSK.

Yuzvendra Chahal

Yuzi would be RR's biggest weapon in Chepauk. He is a genuine wicket-taker and has picked 8 wickets in three games so far. He has the ability to deliver in crunch situations and let's see how he goes about his business on the ground that is expected to assist spinners.

Sandeep Sharma

The right-arm swing bowler showed his class in his comeback game. He bowled nicely with the new ball and nailed his yorkers at the death too. A good Indian pacer is all RR need to accompany Boult and Holder and he could fill that role perfectly this season.
