One of the steals of the auction, Royal Challengers Bangalore have signed England skipper, Heather Knight for INR 40 lakh.

She was not picked by any of the franchises in the initial round, but the team from Bangalore bought her in the accelerated round towards the end.

It has been an auction to remember for the red army. They have already acquired the likes of Smriti Mandhana, Ellyse Perry, Richa Ghosh, Sophie Devine, and Renuka Singh Thakur, and the signing of Knight adds an icing to the cake.

It was expected that there will be a bidding war for the English skipper, but to everyone's surprise, she only received a bid from RCB.

The 32-year-old, made her England debut in 2010, and since then has been a key player for her nation. She captained her nation to the 50-over World title in 2017, and also reached the finals of the 2022 Women's World Cup.

With her signing, RCB have two choices for captain's position. Smriti Mandhana is the first choice skipper for the franchise, but the alternative could be Knight, who has a wealth of experience.

She has played 94 T20I matches, and has piled up 1506 runs, at a strike-rate of 119.42.
