In a significant blow to the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) franchise, star all-rounder Ben Stokes is doubtful for their clash against Mumbai Indians tonight at the Wankhede Stadium. Stokes is believed to have felt pain in his heel after a practice session on Friday evening.

As per Indian Express, the England Test skipper has been advised to take 10 days of rest by the CSK medical team, who will further confirm his condition by noon today.

Stokes was purchased by CSK for a whopping INR 16.25 crore in the IPL 2023 auction, leading into the series.  The former Rajasthan Royals player has appeared in just two matches this season and scored 15 runs.

England and CSK teammate Moeen Ali, on eve of the match against Mumbai, spoke about Stokes gelling in well within the franchise.

Here's what Ali said

"He’s really enjoying himself. CSK is the type of franchise where you come here and you do tend to enjoy yourself and really love playing for this franchise. He’s settled in really well. He’s a big part of the team with his experience."

The MS Dhoni-led side will look to continue their winning momentum, while Mumbai will be eager to notch up their maiden IPL 2023 win and open their account by clinching the Indian version of the El-Classico.
