The one-off Test between Bangladesh and Ireland came to an end today on Day four as Shakib Al Hasan's men prevailed over the visiting side by seven wickets, chasing 138 to win. However, it also brought an end to the illustrious career of ICC Elite Panel's Umpire Aleem Dar, who was officiating in his last Test.

As a grand gesture, both teams Bangladesh and Ireland gave Pakistan's Dar a guard of honour after the completion of the Test. Overall, Dar stood in 439 men's internationals as an on-field umpire, while participating in 109 matches as a TV umpire.

The 54-year-old donned the umpire's hat in 145 Tests, 222 ODIs, and 69 T20Is. Dar holds the record for officiating in the most number of Tests and ODIs since making his debut as an ICC Elite Panel umpire in 2004; the most by a Pakistani umpire ever.

Dar's accomplishments include standing in the four World Cup finals — 2007 and 2011 50-over World Cups and the 2010 and 2012 T20 World Cups.

He also won the David Shepherd trophy three times in a row, with his first win coming in 2009.
