In a remarkable turn of events, Nitish Rana has completed 2000 runs for Kolkata Knight Riders in the Indian Premier League. The KKR skipper bailed his side out of trouble during the ongoing face-off against Sunrisers Hyderabad, achieving the feat during this process.

Rana became the fourth player after Gautam Gambhir, Robin Uthappa and Andre Russell to amass 2000 IPL runs for the Knight Riders.

Most IPL runs for KKR

  • Gautam Gambhir: 3035 runs in 108 innings
  • Robin Uthappa: 2439 runs in 84 innings
  • Andre Russell: 2119 runs in 87 innings
  • Nitish Rana: 2017 runs in 80 innings
  • Yusuf Pathan: 1893 runs in 91 innings

After opting to bat, Kolkata Knight Riders were off to a disastrous start, as Marco Jansen dismantled their top-order, dismissing Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Venkatesh Iyer cheaply. However, skipper Rana stepped up with the bat for his side, forming a crucial 61-run stand with Rinku Singh for the fourth wicket.

Before falling prey to Aiden Markram, the stylish southpaw from Delhi played a priceless knock of 42 runs. He struck three boundaries and as many sixes during his 31-ball stay, setting the tone for a respectable total for his side during the process.

As of writing, KKR are 116 for four, with Rinku Singh and Andre Russell batting on 26* and 17*, respectively.
