Former Team India head coach Ravi Shastri has heaped high praise on opener Shubman Gill, stating that the young batter makes batting look so easy.

Gill was at the peak of his powers on Sunday afternoon as he smashed an unbeaten 51-ball 94 to power the Gujarat Titans to their highest-ever IPL total of 227/2.

Gill gave brilliant support to his partner, Wriddhiman Saha, who started the onslaught and eventually ended up smashing a 43-ball 81 with the help of 10 fours and 4 sixes.

Shastri further pointed out that the Punjab cricketer uses his height and reach to great effect.

Here's what Ravi Shastri said on Shubman Gill

"He makes batting look so easy. I liked his maturity early on when Saha was going hammer and tongs, he took his time and once he got into the groove, initially he was just dealing in sixes. I think he hit six sixes and only after that did he hit his first boundary,” said Shastri as quoted by India Today.

"Again, so pleasing to the eye. He makes batting look so easy. He’s a tall man, uses his reach to good advantage and played some terrific shots. His strength is down the ground, that’s where he plays some of his best shots, in the V in front of the wicket. He has got all the shots, the cut, the pull, very elegant on the cover drive,” Shastri added.

Gill is in the midst of a memorable IPL campaign. In 11 matches, the stylish opener has hammered 469 runs @ 46.90/143.43 with the help of 4 50+ scores.

His brilliant opening stand with Saha eventually paved way for a comprehensive 56-run win for the defending champions against the Lucknow SuperGiants on Sunday evening.
