Hardik Pandya unfurled the spell of the match against West Indies in the second T20I of their five-game series. Leading Team India in the absence of regular skipper Rohit Sharma, the all-rounder claimed three wickets during the run-chase, including that of hosts opener Brandon King in the first ball of the innings.

Earlier in the game, the interim captain also charted 24 quick runs to stretch India’s total to a respectable 152. Despite his all-round efforts, the ‘Men in Blue’ failed to stop West Indies’ lower-order rampage, and ended up conceding 2-0 lead to the hosts.

While his side failed to secure their desired result, captain Pandya created history with a major T20 record among all Indian players.

Hardik Pandya completes this unique all-round double

IPL zealot and Team India star Hardik Pandya boasts of a legion of T20 experience in his bank. The cricketer has played 241 T20 matches, with 89 of them being internationals for the Indian team.

Pandya, who took field against West Indies with 149 wickets to his name, extended his tally beyond the 150-wicket mark with his three-fer in Providence. With the bat, the 29-year-old has already minted 4,391 runs at an average of nearly 30 since his debut in the format back in 2013.

Through his latest all-round spectacle in the Providence T20I affair, Pandya has become the first-ever Indian to achieve a double of scoring over 4,000 runs and taking more than 150 wickets in the game’s shortest format.

His Indian teammate Ravindra Jadeja is not too far away from joining the T20 veteran. The Saurashtra-based cricketer has himself claimed 214 T20 wickets, and has registered 3,359 runs in his tally so far.

In the meantime, Hardik Pandya will lead Team India in the remaining matches of the series against West Indies. Trailing 0-2 after the first couple of games, the ‘Men in Blue’ need to win each of the remaining three fixtures to claim the series.
