Despite starting the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 on the wrong foot, Mumbai Indians (MI) have finally managed to find their rhythm, registering their third win of the tournament yesterday evening against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH).

For Mumbai Indians, youngsters like Ishan Kishan, Cameron Green, and Tilak Varma scored quick runs, propelling their score to 192, which SRH failed to achieve, missing out by 14 runs.

Local boy Varma slammed a 17-ball 37, which included four sixes and two fours. The 20-year-old has been MI's most consistent batter this IPL, having scored 214 runs in five matches.

Speaking about his performances, Varma credited MI's team management for backing his skills and not treating him as a newcomer/youngster.

As per CricTracker, the left-handed batter also opened up about advice he received from mentor Sachin Tendulkar and skipper Rohit Sharma.

Here's what Varma said

"The team (Mumbai Indians) treat me in a way that I never feel like I'm playing the IPL or any other tournament for the first time. Being amongst the God of Cricket (Sachin Tendulkar), the Indian captain (Rohit Sharma) and everyone, I feel confident and comfortable with them,

"Sachin sir told me to have a clear mindset, whether you score runs or not. Rohit sir said, put a smile on your face and give your 100 percent into what you are doing, then the rest will all go fine."

Varma was one of the positives for the Mumbai Indians side from a disastrous IPL 2022, where the youngster scored 397 runs which included two fifties.
