Jos Buttler, the opener for Rajasthan Royals, clarified that he had not abandoned his famous scoop shot; instead, he is more cautious about using it. On Sunday, Buttler's contribution helped Rajasthan secure a winning start in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

“It’s always my favourite shot. I’ll try and play it as much as I can. Unless I feel 100% to go for it, I don’t try. Today I felt like I did not need it as much. It was not a situation where to try it, so I didn’t," told Buttler to Yuzvendra Chahal during a post match interview.

Rajasthan's top three batsmen, including Buttler, all scored half-centuries, allowing the 2008 IPL champions to post a formidable total of 203-5 against Sunrisers Hyderabad. In response, the hosts struggled to maintain the required run rate and finished with 131-8, giving Rajasthan a comfortable victory.

Buttler played an explosive knock of 54 runs off just 22 deliveries in the match for Rajasthan Royals. He shared an 85-run opening partnership with Yashasvi Jaiswal, who scored a half-century. After Jaiswal's dismissal, Rajasthan skipper Sanju Samson joined Buttler in the middle, scoring 55 runs to help Rajasthan post a formidable total.

Buttler and Jaiswal provided a solid foundation for Rajasthan, while Samson's contribution towards the end of the innings ensured that the team reached a total of 203-5. However, this total proved too much for Sunrisers Hyderabad, who struggled to keep up with the required run rate throughout their innings and eventually fell short by a significant margin.

Jos Buttler was awarded the Player of the Match award for his impressive knock in the game. He hit three sixes during his innings, but interestingly, his trademark scoop shot, known for its high-risk and high-reward nature, was not seen frequently during the innings.

Instead, Buttler seemed more cautious in using this shot and chose to play it selectively, indicating a more thoughtful approach to his batting. Despite this, he was able to play some attacking shots and score runs at a brisk pace, which ultimately helped Rajasthan Royals to a comfortable victory.
