The Indian Premier League (IPL) has witnessed some incredible knock in its rich 15-years of history. But none bigger than what the world witnessed on April 23, 2013 at the Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru.

It was the battle between the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and the Pune Warriors India (PWI). PWI skipper Aaron Finch won the toss and elected to field first. This was perhaps the biggest mistake Finch ever made as little did he know that Chris Gayle was about to blew them away with some breath-taking shots never seen before.

On a flat track and against a toothless bowling attack of PWI, Gayle decided to show his batting prowess and brute power never seen before in the IPL.

He stitched an opening stand of 167 alongside Tilakaratne Dilshan. Interestingly, in that partnership, Dilshan only contributed 33 runs as Gayle single-handedly tore apart the confidence of PWI bowlers.

The West Indian legend slammed as many as five boundaries in the fifth over of the match against Mitch Marsh and brought his fifty in just 17-balls.

Aaron Finch brought himself into the attack, but that was again a baffling decision as he went for 29 runs in a single over. Gayle scored the fastest hundred in IPL history of just 30 deliveries, and slammed 150 in deliveries.

By the time the innings ended, the southpaw had slammed an impossible unbeaten 175, laced with record-breaking 17 sixes, and struck at 265.15. RCB posted a mammoth 263 for 5 in their allotted 20 overs.

Let alone the target, PWI batters failed to overhaul Chris Gayle's 175, as they were restricted to 133 for 9.
