Poonam Yadav Sees WPL As A Platform For India Comeback

India cricketer Poonam Yadav assumes the Women's Premier League (WPL) as an opportunity to get back into the national frame. 

The leg-spinner, who last played a match for India last year in March wants to make the best use of the WPL stage as she considers it as a platform to make a comeback in the blue jersey.

Poonam was bought by Delhi Capitals for Rs 30 lakh and will be sharing the dressing with the likes of Meg Lanning, Marizanne Kapp and Jess Jonassen, who are some of the overseas recruits of the franchise. 

"The experienced players can utilise the WPL as a platform to make a comeback and the youngsters will get a chance to showcase their talent in the tournament," Poonam said as quoted in a press release shared by Delhi Capitals.

"We can also learn from foreign players and they will learn from us as well. The WPL will take Indian cricket to great heights," 

Player of the Match in the 2023 Women's U-19 World Cup Titas Sadhu wants to grasp as much learnings as possible in the WPL.

"I was following the auction and practising at the same time. It was a huge relief when I was taken by the Delhi Capitals. I will look to learn as much as possible during this competition as I will be exposed to something that I have never experienced before. I will try to absorb as much as I can," Titas shared.

The inaugural WPL season starts on March 4 with the clash between Gujarat Giants and Mumbai Indians. Delhi Capitals will start their campaign on March 5 in a day game against Royal Challengers Bangalore.
