PCA Awards 2022: Bairstow, Brook, Sciver among top nominations

Jonny Bairstow, Harry Brook, Matthew Potts, Nat Sciver, and Sophia Dunkley have been nominated for the 2022 PCA Awards.

The men's shortlist also includes Derbyshire's Wayne Madsen and Will Jacks alongside Bairstow and Brook for the men's player of the year award. In addition, Brook and Jacks, Matthew Potts is in contention for the PCA Men's Young Player of the Year award.

Bairstow has recently been named as England's Test player of the summer following a dream run with the bat this year. The 32-year-old has scored 681 runs at a staggering average of 75.6 in six appearances, including four centuries.

Brook, who was last year's PCA Men's Young Player of the Year, maintained his growth by making his Test match debut after scoring 976 runs in the County Championship with an average of 107.4 and 436 runs in the T20 Blast.

Will Jacks won the County Championship with Surrey, scoring 648 runs and taking 17 wickets, and also accumulated 449 runs in the T20 Blast as well as scored the fastest ton in The Hundred.

Madsen, meanwhile, scored over 1,800 runs across all formats this season, including 1,134 runs in the County Championship for Derbyshire, 

Potts made a sensational start to his Test career after his debut against New Zealand in June, taking 20 wickets at 28 in five appearances.

Nat Sciver is joined on the women's shortlist by England teammates Sophia Dunkley, Emma Lamb, and Lauren Winfield-Hill. While Alice Capsey, Freya Kemp, and Grace Scrivens complete the three-strong shortlist for the women's young player of the year title.

Sciver scored her maiden Test century against South Africa as well as scored 188 T20I runs and 118 ODI runs while also taking four wickets with the ball. She was the women's Hundred MVP after scoring 228 runs and taking six wickets for Trent Rockets. Dunkley scored her maiden ODI century against South Africa and was named the T20I player of the summer after scoring 197 runs at an average of 39.4 against South Africa and India.

Winfield-Hill amassed 470 runs and completed 13 dismissals with the gloves behind the stumps, as well as won The Hundred with Oval Invincibles. In an impressive home summer, Lamb scored 282 runs and took three wickets in ODIs, as well as made her Test debut, and also impressed Manchester Originals in The Hundred.
