With a poor run of form in Test cricket especially in English conditions, Australia's opening batter David Warner fighting for his place in the side for the World Test Championship (WTC) Final slated to be held in June against India.

Meanwhile, skipper Pat Cummins who returned home from the Indian tour following the passing of his mother has spoken on the matter. Cummins who led Australia to Ashes victory previously has remarked that they will have to play the waiting game on Warner's spot in the playing XI for the ICC event.

“We’ll have to wait and see. The bowlers can get on top over in England with the new ball. It seams around; it can be tough for opening batters,"

It should be mentioned that Warner was ruled out of the last two Tests of the India series due to an elbow fracture and concussion that he suffered during the second game.

However, Cummins mentioned that opening batters who can bat well in difficult conditions are of great advantage as they have the power to narrate a game.

“But openers who can put pressure back on the bowlers, they’re priceless. I know as a bowler, if someone’s a sitting duck, you feel like you’re going to get them eventually. If someone’s kind of taking the game to you, it presents a different challenge,"

Moreover, according to him, Warner has that capability to take on the batters and provide some quick runs at the top of the order, especially in England.

That’s been the hallmark of Davey’s career. Over there in England, that’s what you’d want out of him, putting that pressure back on the bowlers."

Warner will next be seen playing in the 16th edition of the IPL where he has been handed over the responsibility to lead the Delhi Capitals side.
