What comes in as big news for the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) fans, legendary AB de Villiers who retired from the IPL after the 2021 season was asked to make a comeback in the cash-rich league.

This news was revealed by none other than RCB's director of cricket Mike Hesson who said that he wanted AB to come out of retirement and play the last season but things didn't go according to plan.

Further, Hesson who was speaking on the RCB podcast remarked that after a certain point, they have to move ahead as they respected his decision and it could have been unfair have they pushed it past a point.

"We tried to talk him (De Villiers) out of retirement, 100 percent, because he is a genius. We were planning things for the year ahead, and to get that phone call was pretty tough to take. But after a point, you realise that you have to respect the decision he took, and it will be pretty wrong on my part to push him past a point,"

With 184 IPL matches under his belt, the South African was a vital cog in the franchise's line-up as turned the game with his unimaginable kind of hitting.

Something similar was echoed by Hesson who explained that they want the big-hitter in their setup in some capacity as his presence could be extremely useful to the players. Moreover, his relationship with Virat Kohli has been tremendous along with his love for the franchise.

"ABD will always be a part of RCB, and we will try to get him back into some involvement that suits him and suits us as well. We know how much he loves RCB and his relation with Virat."

RCB will begin their 2023 campaign against Mumbai Indians on the 2nd of April at Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru but before that de Villiers could be seen in the RCB's special unbox event where Chris Gayle along with Kohli will be present on 26th March.
