On this day, 11-years ago, Rohit Sharma etched his name in the history books with a scintillating double century against the Australian side in the series decider at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium.

The ODI series in 2013 between India and Australia will forever be 'GOATED', as it witnessed a 52-ball hundred from Kohli, record-breaking chase from India and many records being broken. However, it will also be remembered for Rohit's first double ton, which came in a pressure contest.

Heading into the series finale, India and Australia were evenly matched at 2-2, as India batted first on a flat track. The deadly opening pair of Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan started on the front-foot as they scored briskly and added 112 runs for the first wicket. However, Dhawan eventually departed for 60, and the star of the series, Virat Kohli followed him back for a duck as India's number 3 was involved in a run-out.

With two quick wickets down, Rohit slowed down a bit but eventually reached his century. He was amply supported by Suresh Raina (28), and then MS Dhoni (62), as India raced towards the 300-run mark.

However, once Rohit crossed his hundred, he put his feet on the accelerator and started smashing sixes for fun. In a brutal assault, Rohit smashed a record-breaking 16 sixes, as he reached his double ton quickly and took India's score to a mammoth 383/6.

Faulkner roars, but Australia fail to cross the line

In reply, Australia lost the momentum chasing a big total, and they looked clueless in the middle, until James Faulkner decided to take matters in his own hands. The Aussie all-rounder showed his brilliance as he stitched a crucial partnership with Glenn Maxwell (60 off 22), but with Maxwell departing, he decided to unleash the beast mode.

Faulkner toyed with the Indian bowlers, and took a special liking towards Vinay Kumar as the Indian seamer conceded 102 runs in just 9 overs. Faulkner hammered 11 fours and 6 sixes as he reached a well-deserved ton. However, that wasn't enough as the side ran out of gas and got bundled out for 326.
