10th April, 2011, marks a special day for Rohit Sharma. Back on this day, the legendary batter played his first match for the Mumbai based franchise, and the rest as they say is history.

Bought at the mega auction, Rohit made his MI debut against the Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals) at the Arjun Jaitley Stadium.

When Rohit made his MI debut in 2011

Back in the day, Rohit Sharma was a talented young cricketer who had a lot of promise, but failed to deliver the goods at the international level. The youngster was also omitted from India's 2011 World Cup squad, but MI showed faith in him and bought Rohit in the mega auction.

Talking about the match, MI defeated Delhi by 8-wickets and Rohit had a decent outing. After being put into bat, Delhi were bundled out for a paltry 95. Chasing a modest total, MI lost a couple of wickets early, but entering at number 4, Rohit delivered from the front and remained unbeaten on 27 as the target was chased down rather easily.

The former Mumbai Indians captain had a good debut campaign, scoring 372 runs in 14 matches, with 3 fifties under his belt. He went onto become one of the greatest players for the franchise, captaining them to a record 5 IPL titles.

So far, Rohit has amassed 5159 runs in 202 IPL matches for Mumbai Indians, at a strike-rate of 130.44.
