New Zealand yielded to a 65-run larruping against India at Mount Maunganui in the second T20I of their three-match series. The heavy defeat now makes the upcoming series finale a must-win for the hosts, with the contest slated to be held at Napier’s McLean Park on November 22.

After the match, the Black Caps’ skipper Kane Williamson said his team faltered in their run-chase, considering they kept losing wickets without keeping up with the asking rate. The veteran also praised India’s number three batter Suryakumar Yadav for whacking a six-laden 111* from just 51 deliveries.

The New Zealand captain expressed his appreciation for India’s in-form batter Suryakumar Yadav. The Black Caps’ veteran described Yadav’s innings as one of the best he has ever seen.

Describing the cricketer’s 51-ball 111* as a “next level” knock, Williamson also praised some of the shots he witnessed in the evening.

Moreover, the hosts skipper said that it was frustrating to see his side losing key wickets in their run-chase. He said:

“It was not our best effort, have to say that. That was one of the best knocks I have ever seen. Some of those shots I have never seen. That was next level. They were outstanding and we weren't up to the task. It was frustrating but keeps pointing back to Suryakumar Yadav and the way he went about. It was frustrating that we kept losing wickets. T20 can be like that sometimes.”
