IND vs AUS | 'Not surprised by what I’m seeing': Michael Clarke lashes out at Australia

Hosts India retained the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2023, winning the Delhi Test yesterday after spin duo Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin wrecked Australia's batting line-up.

The Pat Cummins-led Australia crumbled like nine-pins and were bundled out for just 113, asking India to chase down 115, which Rohit Sharma and Co. achieved with six wickets in hand, and take an unassailable 2-0 lead.

Former skipper Michael Clarke has lashed out at the Australian side for their showing in India, blaming a lack of preparation and poor team selection.

According to TheWest, Clarke said that not having a tour game was a 'major, major, major mistake', and the side is realising that now.

Here's what Clarke said

"I’m not surprised by what I’m seeing because we didn’t have a tour game. Major, major, major mistake. There should have been at least one game over there to get used to the conditions. Selection for the first Test, major, major mistake. Second Test, blokes sweeping, we saw enough of that the first Test match.

They’re not the right conditions to sweep when you start your innings. And they’re never going to be the right conditions to reverse sweep against the spin at the start of your innings,"

Former coach Darren Lehman further suggested that Travis Head should open in the remaining Tests if David Warner is unavailable.

Lehman pointed out that the Australian batter ployed the sweep shot too much, and did not trust their defence.

The third Test will begin from March 1 in Indore.
