It has been a bumpy ride for India's Deepak Chahar in the last year or so as the bowling all-rounder is still not a regular in the white-ball teams due to his injury-prone body.

It all started in February last year when Chahar was ruled out of Sri Lanka T20Is due to a hamstring injury.

While he did make a return close to the 2022 T20 World Cup, another set of injuries became the root cause of his elimination from India's squad for the tournament.

After Chahar donned the blues again in the 2022 ODI series versus Bangladesh, it did not take too long for him to break down as soon after he was back at the National Cricket Academy.

However, as per the 30-year-old, he is all set to extend his comeback trail to the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 as he declared himself "fully fit" for the competition.

In conversation with the Press Trust of India, Chahar opened up on his twin injuries and how it is tougher for a bowler than a batter to make a return.

Here's what Chahar said:

"I have been working hard for the past two three months on my fitness, I am fully fit and preparing well for the IPL. I had two big injures. One was stress fracture and one was quad grade 3 tear. They both are very big injuries. You are out for months. Anyone who comes back after the injury it takes time, especially for the fast bowlers,

"If I was a batter I would be playing way back long but as a fast bowler, when you have a stress fracture, it is very tough to get back on track. You can see other bowlers struggling with the back as well."

Chahar recently featured for Rajasthan in their last match of the Ranji Trophy 2022-23 against Services. Chennai Super Kings' 14 crore buy will be seen playing in the yellow jersey in the IPL 2023 after missing out on the action last season.
