Karachi Kings have received a severe setback in their ongoing campaign in the eighth edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL). Leading pacer, Mir Hamza, who spearheaded their bowling attack in tandem with veteran Mohammad Amir, has been ruled out of the tournament.

The proficient left-arm quick had an impressive outing during their recent thrilling encounter against Peshawar Zalmi, where he effectively bowled with precision. The match witnessed a dramatic start, with Amir conceding two boundaries in the very first over.

However, a crafty Hamza proved his mettle by swiftly dismissing the Zalmi wicket-keeper Mohammad Haris, with an in-swinging yorker, thus paving the way for a relentless pursuit of the opposition's batting line-up. Furthermore, he exhibited his fielding prowess, which culminated in a run-out of Saim Ayub, following a fluky deflection off Babar Azam's powerful straight drive.

However, the ball struck Hamza's hand, leaving him in pain. Subsequently, the thirty-year-old underwent a medical examination and to the Kings' dismay, the Karchi born's PSL 2023 campaign has come to an end.

The official Twitter handle of Karachi Kings has confirmed that Hamza's involvement in PSL 2023 has been curtailed due to a serious injury.

This recent mishap is reminiscent of the franchise's previous misfortunes in the competition. During the previous edition of the PSL, the Kings encountered a similar ordeal, with Amir and Mohammad Ilyas sustaining injuries that subsequently impacted their campaign.

Hamza's exit is indeed a tremendous blow to the Imad Wasim-led side. Although they possess a plethora of fast-bowling options, it remains unclear who will be entrusted with the responsibility of replacing Hamza for the rest of the tournament.
