In a recent interaction with the press in Karachi, Imad Wasim, the captain of the Karachi Kings, expressed his happiness with the development of Mohammad Rizwan as a T20 batsman. He mentioned that during Rizwan's tenure with the Kings, they were unable to accommodate him in the opening position.

"We couldn’t find a place for Rizwan in the opening position and we didn’t want to play him in middle-order. I didn’t want to change the opening pair of Alex Hales and Babar Azam," Wasim said.

Furthermore, Wasim expressed satisfaction with Rizwan's success with another franchise, where he proved his naysayers wrong. The Kings' captain stated that Rizwan might not have got the opportunity to open for the Kings, which is why he is happy that the wicketkeeper moved on and proved everyone wrong.

The Karachi Kings skipper also clarified that he was not involved in the decision to trade Babar Azam to Peshawar Zalmi, as it was solely the owner's prerogative. As a member of the franchise, he asserted that their objective was solely to win matches and nothing more.

Moreover, the 34-year all-rounder divulged his experience of playing under Azam's leadership in the previous season, asserting that every captain has a unique approach. He opined that aggressive captaincy is crucial in T20 cricket. Finally, Wasim expressed his intention to lead his team from the front this year and secure the coveted PSL 2023 title.

It is pertinent to mention that Karachi Kings underwent significant transformations following their dismal performance in the previous season, where they only managed to secure a solitary victory, culminating in a last-place finish in the points table.

Additionally, Shoaib Malik, who was in top form in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), has joined the team. Swashbuckling batsman Matthew Wade has also replaced wicketkeeper Joe Clarke.

The Karachi-based franchise will be determined to put on a more impressive display this season, with aspirations of clinching their second PSL title.
