In the ongoing Global T20 Canada 2023, New Zealand all-rounder, Jimmy Neesham has not only been making waves with his cricketing skills but also with his humorous social media presence.

Neesham silences haters with humorous response to match-fixing accusations

Despite being a star performer for Mississauga Panthers, Neesham recently found himself at the receiving end of online abuse from a disgruntled fan accusing him of match-fixing. Unfazed by the unwarranted attack, the southpaw responded with his characteristic wit and once again showed his ability to take things in stride.

Taking to his Instagram Story, the Kiwi cricketer shared a screenshot of the abusive direct message he received, in which the fan questioned his intent during the game and referred to him as a match-fixer.

Neesham, known for his light-hearted approach on social media, captioned the post with, "Can't please everyone, I guess," accompanied by laughing emoticons. His response not only diffused the situation but also amused his followers.

Meanwhile, during Sunday’s Global T20 Canada 2023 match between Mississauga Panthers and Montreal Tigers, the Panthers faced a tough challenge after losing both openers early. However, Navneet Dhaliwal and Azam Khan steadied the innings initially, laying the foundation for a competitive total.

It was Neesham's brilliant late surge that proved to be the game-changer for the Panthers, propelling them past the 140-mark with an unbeaten 54 off just 35 deliveries. His knock featured four boundaries and two sixes, giving the team a respectable total to defend.

In response, the Tigers' Muhammad Waseem fell early, but the seasoned duo of Chris Lynn and Shakib Al Hasan put on a crucial 60-run partnership for the second wicket, steering their team close to victory. Eventually, Sherfane Rutherford's aggressive 20-ball 27 sealed the deal for the Tigers as they reached the target in 15.5 overs.

While Neesham's batting heroics were commendable, his bowling efforts couldn't replicate the magic he displayed with the bat. He bowled two overs, conceding 13 runs without taking a wicket.

The loss marked the Panthers' third consecutive defeat in the tournament, leaving them with plenty of work to do to turn their fortunes around.
