In a thrilling match between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Delhi Capitals in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 season, all-rounder Washington Sundar shone bright for SRH, but it wasn't enough to secure victory.

Commenting on Sundar's impact, former Indian opener Aakash Chopra said the SRH star’s three-wicket haul shifted the momentum of the game. He humorously noted that while it is usually Washington DC, this match was more like Washington versus DC.

"It was going okay for DC, but then Washington Sundar picked up three wickets. Generally, it's Washington DC, but this time it was Washington vs. DC," said Chopra his YouTube channel.

The renowned commentator also pointed out that SRH had a difficult start to their innings when Phil Salt was dismissed for a golden duck in the first over, and Mitchell Marsh lost his wicket after hitting a few boundaries.

"When Bhuvneshwar Kumar dismissed Phil Salt in the first over, it felt like rubbing salt into SRH's wounds," added the erstwhile cricketer.

Despite losing early wickets, the partnership between Manish Pandey and Axar Patel helped DC reach a competitive total of 144/9. Pandey scored 34 off 27 balls, while Patel contributed 34 off 34 deliveries.

In response, none of the top five SRH batsmen barring Mayank Agarwal (49) contributed substantially to the chase. Heinrich Klaasen and Sundar played quickfire cameos at the end but it wasn’t enough as SRH fell short of the target by seven runs.
