Kolkata Knight Riders managed to end their losing streak of four matches by defeating Royal Challengers Bangalore by 21 runs in the on-going IPL 2023, which keeps them in the running for the tournament. They displayed an impressive batting performance by putting a tough score on the board and then defended it well to secure their win.

This victory has helped KKR climb to the 7th spot in the points table. With the second half of the tournament already started, KKR would want to win more matches to have a chance of making it to the Playoffs.

Virat Kohli, the 34-year-old batsman, who has been the stand-in skipper since the last three matches, struck six fours during his innings. On a day when well-performing batsmen such as Faf (17) and Glenn Maxwell (2) were unable to make an impact, Kohli held his ground firm and score his fifth half century of the season.

When Kohli hit a ball from Andre Russell with force, it appeared as though it might clear the boundary line or at least result in a boundary. However, Venkatesh Iyer quickly moved into position and executed an incredible catch, leaving Kohli and everyone else amazed.

During the post match interview, Iyer spoke about the blazing Kohli catch that shocked everyone and said:

"I am extremely happy to be back on the field. I haven't fielded in a while now – it has been almost 5-6 months that I have taken to the field for fielding – and that too in a high-pressure situation. I am lucky that the catch was very flat so I didn’t have a lot of thoughts and it stuck in my hand. I'm extremely happy that I took the catch because Virat Kohli was well set and that catch at that very moment was a very game-changing moment for us. Glad I took it."

On Wednesday evening, there was a notable difference as Venkatesh returned to his fielding duties and played a crucial part in the dismissal of the in-form Kohli, which resulted in KKR securing two crucial points on the leaderboard and taking over the five-time winners Mumbai Indians.
