One of the most hard-working bowlers in domestic cricket, Sandeep Sharma is considered a stalwart in the Indian Premier League (IPL). However, unexpectedly Sharma went unsold in the IPL 2023 mini-auction on Friday, which was a shocker for many.

Sharma, who is currently playing in the Ranji Trophy 2022-23 for Chandigarh, claimed a seven-wicket haul in their disastrous innings and 125-run loss against Madhya Pradesh.

Speaking to Cricket.com, Sharma expressed his disappointment in being snubbed by IPL franchises.  In 104 IPL matches, the 29-year-old has 114 wickets at an impressive average of 26.33.

"I’m shocked and disappointed. I don’t know why I went unsold. I’ve done well whichever team I had played for and genuinely thought some team would bid for me. To be honest, I was not expecting this. Don’t even know where it has gone wrong.

In domestic cricket, I have been performing well. In the Ranji Trophy, last round, I took seven wickets. I did so well in Syed Mushtaq Ali.”

To Sharma's credit, he has dismissed Virat Kohli (7) and Chris Gayle (4) — the most times in IPL, respectively.

The former Punjab Kings and Sunrisers Hyderabad pacer further stated that his job is to bowl, and other things will follow.

“I have always strived to be consistent in my bowling. And that’s the only thing in my hands. I can’t control selection or non-selection. If a chance comes then good, or else, I have to keep doing good work,

Sharma will be seen in action against Gujarat starting tomorrow at Ahmedabad.
