IND vs SL: Virat Kohli set to overtake Sachin Tendulkar in a batting milestone

Virat Kohli is set to feature in India's squad for the ODI series opener against Sri Lanka after missing the T20I leg of the season.

Even though the cricketer is an ODI batting whiz, the 113 he scored against Bangladesh last month was his first triple-digit score in the format after more than three years.

Kohli will now match the legendary Sachin Tendulkar in a couple of rare ODI milestones if he slams another century in the series against Sri Lanka.

The 34-year-old has 44 ODI centuries to his credit, with 19 coming in home conditions. Former cricketer Sachin Tendulkar registered 20 ODI tons at home, out of the 49 he slammed in his career, thus making him the highest century make in 50-over matches at home.

If Kohli registers another three-figure score, sometime during the ongoing series against Sri Lanka, he will match the 'Master Blaster' for the record.

Moreover, the former Indian captain will go past Tendulkar for a separate milestone. As of now, both cricketers have eight centuries each to their name against Sri Lanka in ODIs, thus giving Kohli a great chance to topple the batting legend.

Additionally, the record for scoring most ODI tons against a single opponent is nine, jointly shared by none other than Kohli and Tendulkar (against West Indies and Australia, respectively). With another hundred, the active Indian batter will add Sri Lanka to the list as his co-favourite prey in the format.
