In a significant development, veteran Indian batter Rohit Sharma has surpassed Adam Gilchrist in the list of highest run-getters in ODI cricket.
Rohit ensured a stupendous start for India in the first ODI against New ̉Zealand, overtaking the Australian stalwart in this process. Currently, the Indian skipper is placed sixteenth in the list.

Opening the batting alongside Shubman Gill, Rohit took on all New Zealand bowlers to the cleaners, ensuring a brisk start for India. However, he couldn't capitalise on the start, being dismissed by Blair Tickner for a 38-ball 34.
As of writing, India are 63 for one in 13 overs. While Shubman Gill is batting on 23*, Virat Kohli is unbeaten on 1.
