The action shifts to Delhi tomorrow for the second Test of the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2023 between India and Australia, where the hosts took a 1-0 lead after drubbing their opponents in Nagpur.
Former Australian Allan Border, who has been quite vocal about Pat Cummins and Co.'s approach so far in the series, said that come Friday, the team should play to its strengths and not give in to the debate surrounding the pitch.
Speaking to SEN 1170 Breakfast, Border stated that David Warner should be backed for the Delhi encounter. However, he needs to perform or fear getting dropped later in the series.
Here's what Border said
"We tend to look at the pitches that are gonna turn and say we should play with a couple of spinners. I’m a bit the other way – I think we should go with our strengths, go with our fast bowlers, bowl with certain plans to their batsman, subtle different changes of tactics, and play with the three quicks and just the one spinner."
The 1987 World Cup-winning captain once again mentioned that dropping Travis Head in the first Test was 'ridiculous', and uncalled for.
