Riding on Muneeba Ali's spectacular hundred and Nashra Sandhu's four-fer, Pakistan Women swatted aside their Irish counterparts by 70 runs in the tenth match of the ongoing Women's T20 World Cup. Pakistan Women opened their account in the points table with this astounding victory.
Muneeba Ali's hundred powers Pakistan to 165
After being put into bat, Pakistan Women got off to a flier, as Muneeba Ali came out with all guns blazing, helping her side score 45 runs in the powerplay.
Although Javeria Khan and skipper Bismah Maroof departed cheaply, Ali continued amusing the spectators with her fireworks, getting ample support from the veteran Nida Dar at the other end.
While the swashbuckling southpaw smashed 102 runs in 68 deliveries, Dar contributed handy 33 runs before being cleaned up by Arlene Kelly.
The valiant efforts of these two propelled Pakistan to 165 runs in 20 overs.
Nashra Sandhu weaves her magic as the Irish fall flat
Chasing a challenging total of 166, Ireland Women suffered an early setback, with Amy Hunter being dismissed for six in the second over.
Although Gaby Lewis and Orla Prendergast added 24 runs for the second wicket, their departure opened the floodgates for Ireland, as they crumbled like a pack of cards.
Besides Lewis and Prendergast, Eimear Richardson was the only batter to breach the two-digit-mark, as Ireland were bundled out for a paltry 95 in 16.3 overs.
Nashra Sandhu emerged as the wrecker-in-chief for Pakistan, scalping four wickets for 18 runs. Among others, Nida Dar and Sadia Iqbal claimed two wickets apiece.
