After a heartbreaking loss in the eliminator of the Pakistan Super League (PSL), Peshawar Zalmi's Babar Azam has expressed his disappointment over not being able to help the team's cause.

The skipper emphasised on the fact that they couldn't perform the way he would have liked which got the game to slip away. He talked about the fact that his performances were decent but of no use, to the team, as they crashed out before the Finals.

Moreover, his run-scoring was criticised by some pundits and commentators including Simon Doull because of the rate he was scoring during the season. To address this issue, he reckoned that he would turn back and scrutinise his performances which would help him to get better in the long run.

"As a captain, it's important to share experience and give confidence to youngsters. I set my goal in this PSL to register top performances, but I feel good performances are those that help the team win.

"Communication is very important when batting in the middle, and I try to communicate with them and give them confidence. Happy with the form but disappointed that it didn't help the team win. I will look back and see what I can do better."

Azam ended the PSL as the second-highest run-getter in the tournament with 522 runs at an average of 52.20 while striking at 145.
