Playing at his home ground, Ravichandran Ashwin was adjudged as the Player of the Match for his all-round brilliance which helped Rajasthan Royals (RR) beat Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by 3 runs.

In another last-over thriller in the ongoing season of the IPL, Sanju Samson's Rajasthan Royals edged past MS Dhoni's Chennai Super Kings to win their first game at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai since 2008.

In the first innings when RR lost two quick wickets then Ravichandran Ashwin earned a promotion up the order and came to bat at number 5. Although he got an early reprieve off Ravindra Jadeja's bowling, he still batted decently to score crucial 30 runs off 22 balls to set the platform for Shimron Hetmyer to come out all guns blazing.

Continuing the good form, the Caribbean power hitter smashed 30 runs off 18 balls at a healthy strike rate of 166.67. RR finished at 175/8 on a wicket that was helpful for the spinners.

With the ball, Ashwin bowled a brilliant spell of 2/25 in his four overs. His efforts helped in restricting CSK to 172/6, three runs short of the target. Reflecting on his performances in the post-match presentation, Ashwin said that he is far better at judging his strengths. He added that he takes few balls to get going and informs that he is padded up right from the start in RR's every batting innings.

He also talked about his good Test form coming into IPL and stated that he is getting good grip and is able to deliver balls at the right lengths.

"I am far better at judging my strengths, I take a few balls to get going. Every batting innings, I am padded up from the start. It's not an easy thing but it is good. I came off with good Test form. I feel I am able to get good grip and drop the ball at the right lengths."

With this victory, RR jumps to the top of the points table with three wins in four games.
