Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) skipper KL Rahul showered praise on his lower-order batters for their contributions in the historic run-chase against the Royal Challengers Bangalore at the M.Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Monday, April 10.

LSG edged past RCB by one wicket in a cliffhanger to register the most successful run-chase in the history of the league at RCB's home ground. The match went down to the wire as both teams fought hard till the last over.

Requiring 213 for the win and to create history in Bengaluru, LSG's start wasn't ideal as they lost three wickets inside the powerplay. The pressure was on the visiting LSG team. Marcus Stoinis walked in and took the attack to the RCB bowlers, hitting them all around the park.

However, RCB came back in the game with two quick wickets of Stoinis (65) and KL Rahul (18), with LSG were reeling at 99/4. But, Nicholas Pooran came in and smacked the fastest fifty of this year's IPL in a big run chase.

Pooran couldn't stay the course, but young Ayush Badoni remained calm and took his team closer to the target. Despite Harshal Patel's brilliance in the last over, LSG batters stole the run of the final ball to register a monumental victory. Acknowledging the efforts of his batters, Rahul said:

"The only reason we got two points today is for the way the lower order batted. We know about the power in Marcus (Stoinis) and Nicky (Nicholas Pooran), and Ayush (Badoni) have come along as well. He's played 2-3 knocks last year, and he's continued to perform well for us."

With this win, LSG now have six points in three games and now they are sitting at the top of the points table.
