The IPL franchise of Rajasthan Royals has released 9 players ahead of the mini-auction of the tournament's 2023 edition. But despite many discussions around him the Royals family has decided not to sell Riyan Parag.

Riyan Parag's performance in the last few seasons of IPL has not justified the faith the franchise has shown in him. In 2020, Parag scored 86 runs from 12 matches, while in 2021 he was able to score just 93 runs in outings. However, in the latest edition, he had a better time when he scored 183 runs from 17 innings with one half-century.

In a recent conversation with Sportskeeda, Parag said that people outside the team management do not see what goes on in the practice sessions and how he performs in the practice matches. The fact that people judge him on the end product has disappointed them as the last few years have been tough for him. But Parag was also seen to be grateful to the Royals family for the faith and support they have shown in him.

MS Dhoni has just mastered it and I am doing it at such an early stage: Riyan Parag

Most of the chances that Parag gets to bat are in the lower order for the Royals. Where he has to provide finishes to the team with the bat. If we talk about finishing the game off with the bat, the master of the art is MS Dhoni. Parag spoke about honing his skills and getting comfortable with the role to develop himself to the legend's level.

"It's the tougher job in T20 cricket, to just come in and slog. Numbers six and seven are the hardest places to play in T20 cricket. Only some of the guys have mastered it. Not even some, I'll just say only MS Dhoni has mastered it and no one else has. And I am doing it at such an early stage in my career. Not even master it, I am just getting close to knowing what it feels like - I am just sorting my way through it. So people can just talk whatever they want, but I know how hard a job it is and my team believes in me." - said Parag.

It will be interesting to see how Riyan Parag performs in the next season of the IPL.
