Harshal Patel recently joked about taking up the coaching job at the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), after he was asked to predict his team’s fate in this IPL 2023 season. The franchise will be making their 16th appearance this year, having debuted in tournament’s inception back in 2008.

Despite featuring some of the greatest talents in its roster over the years, the franchise is yet to bag its first IPL title. They came close in three finals, and in several other playoffs appearances, but always fell short on the big day.

With 15 trophy-less seasons behind, the RCB will be vying for their first trophy this year, as they commence their campaign against five-time winners Mumbai Indians on April 2.

Harshal Patel praises RCB team management

During an interaction with ESPNCricinfo, Patel praised the RCB team management for its professional approach. He said that the management is very process-oriented and always focuses on taking care of the players.

The 32-year-old also joked about taking up coach Mike Hesson’s job, after he was asked if RCB could snap its trophy drought with a win this season.

"If I had the answer to that question, I would take Mike Hesson's job. I'm being very, very honest when I say in my last couple of years with RCB, I have never seen a team management that is more process-oriented and more focused on taking care of the players so that they will take care of what needs to be taken care of on the field."

The cricketer made his IPL debut back in 2012 and spent his first six seasons of the tournament at the RCB camp. He shifted his base to Delhi Capitals for the subsequent three years, before returning to RCB in 2021.

His second coming to the franchise marked his breakthrough year as he snared 32 wickets that season to be crowned as ‘Purple Cap’ winner. Overall, he has bagged 97 scalps in his 12-year IPL journey, where he claimed 51 of those in the last two seasons alone.
