Ace Indian off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin lost his cool at a recent promotional event for a cricket App in Chennai after he was asked about his opinion on the Tamil Nadu government banning online gambling including games like Rummy and Poker.

On Friday (April 7th), Tamil Nadu Law Minister S Regupathy defended the state government's ban on online gaming, stating that games are differentiated on the basis of skill and chance and that only those which involve the latter have been banned.

Ashwin reacted with some strong words when asked about his response on TN government's gambling ban.

This is what Ravi Ashwin said:

"Do you want the truth or a headline," asked Ashwin.

Ashwin further stated that online gaming is one of the major reasons why children these days prefer staying at home instead of playing outdoor sports.

The legendary cricketer further added that he would support any campaign which encourages children to keep their mobile phones aside and venture outside.

He signed off by questioning the reporter, stating that asking such controversial questions during a promotional event is not "appreciated".

"It is impertinent to the place and the position. I’m here to address something but you are trying to drive in a controversy. It’s not fair."

Meanwhile, Ashwin will return to his home turf- the Chepauk- on Wednesday evening when his team Rajasthan Royals lock horns with his former franchise Chennai Super Kings in yet another league-stage fixture of the IPL 2023.

Ashwin has thus far taken 4 wickets in 3 games at an average of 19.25 and an economy rate of 6.42, and he'd look to continue with his good work against the MS Dhoni-led unit on Wednesday.
