On day two of the ongoing first Test between Pakistan and New Zealand, opener Devon Conway etched his name in the record books after becoming the fastest Kiwi batter to register 1,000 Test runs. Conway reached this milestone in 11 Tests across 19 innings, bettering former player John Reid's record.

Reid's 1,000th Test run came in 20 innings. Mark Richardson with 20 comes third, Jesse Ryder is fourth with 21 and the fifth position is occupied by Bert Sutcliffe, who achieved it in 23 innings.

England's Herbert Surcliffe (12) holds the record for the fastest batter to reach 1,000-run mark.

Overall, Conway has 1,000 runs in 11* Tests, with three centuries and five half-centuries; he also has a double-ton.

Earlier on the same day, skipper Tim Southee became the third New Zealand bowler to pick up 350 Test wickets.

About the ongoing Karachi Test, Conway and Tom Latham provided New Zealand a perfect start in the first innings, taking them to 165 for no loss at stumps on Day 2, in reply to Pakistan's mammoth score of 438 all-out.

Conway and Latham resumed batting on 82* and 78* runs, respectively on Day 3. However, Conway eventually departed for a well compiled 92.
