South African pacer Lungi Ngidi has not been at his best in the recent four-day provincial for Titans where he grabbed just one wicket while bowling seventeen overs in the first spell. The right-armer was found bowling lengths that his South African captain Dean Elgar found not good enough.

According to him, the Durban-born wasn't at his best and he will make sure to make him know that he needs to get back to his best. The reason he mentioned was his absence from the game after the mega-event in Australia.

“He’s had a long lay-off from the (T20) World Cup. He is not where he should be ahead of a big series, but we’ve got time on our hands. He is aware of that and if he’s not, I’ll make him aware,”

Ngidi went without a wicket in the game against Netherlands where Proteas faced a humiliating defeat in their final group stage of the T20 World Cup and crashed out of the tournament. However, there is a high expectation for him to make a comeback and perform before the tour.

“He’s a professional guy, he knows where he’s at, at the moment and he’ll be working hard. I’m pretty confident that Lungi will bounce back, you can see he’s not played a lot of cricket of late, especially the longer format which is quite demanding. Time in the legs is something that you can’t replace."

South Africa will be visiting Australia for a three-match Test series that will begin on 17th of December.
