Shaheen Shah Afridi's absence is a 'big loss' for Pakistan in the upcoming Test series, England head coach Brendon McCullum said in a press conference on Monday.

Arguably Pakistan's main bowler in all formats, Shaheen was ruled out of the Test series after suffering a knee injury during the T20 World Cup final against England.

The England coach believes that Shaheen has made great strides in his career since he played with and then coached the bowler during the first two editions of the Pakistan Super League (PSL).

Baz speaks

"I know him really well. He's a wonderful bowler and he's turned into a fine leader for Pakistan cricket. Shaheen's obviously a big loss."

McCullum has also praised the Pakistan bowling attack.

"You look at their team sheet and you see talent. You see some that might not be developed talent, but it's talent.

You need to respect that and you need to find a way to be able to be well researched and well planned on what's going to come at you."

Pakistan will clash against England in a 3-match Test series. The first test in Rawalpindi starts from December 1.
